Stealth Sails was started way back in 1989 in Auckland, New Zealand and I believe I was the first in New Zealand to start making RC yacht sails on a commercial basis, well before anyone else.
During the past 20 years I have tried many different sail configurations including a three panel main sail first devised by Geoff Smale, who many of you will have met. Well I did have a lot of success with three panel main sails, as did Geoff and also many others who have used my three panel main sails over the years. I have decided to reintroduce three panel main sails alongside the normal four panel sails that I already produce. The bonus of such a sail is that the top seam is much lower and this is beneficial for two reasons, firstly in strong winds it is much easier to flatten the top part of the sail therefore reducing power just when you need it. The second reason is just the opposite, for in very light winds the top seam being much more lower has the benefit of being able to "POP" through to the opposite tack much easier due to the fact that it is much longer and not so "bound up". My four panel top suit main sail has a lower seam than normal but nowhere near where a three panel sail would be.
I am also considering reintroducing a very light weight jib from polyester ripstop which I used many years ago to devastating effect in very light winds, particularly when I won the USA Nationals in San Jose, 2000. I have kept all the information from these sails so to produce these sails would not be a problem. On top of this I have hundreds of metres of 36 micron film for lightweight jibs but jibs from polyester ripstop would be even lighter.
So if you sail in very light winds a lot of the time get in touch with me to discuss your requirements, it could just make all the difference!!!!
